An upcoming board game of cartoon villainy, World Domination, will now be offered in three distinct visual styles, a decision made after strong player feedback at UK conventions. The publisher, also named World Domination, has also confirmed they will use a British manufacturer for the game’s production.

The ambitious tabletop game, which I saw first at the UK Games Expo and more recently at Tabletop Scotland, challenges players to become the greatest evil genius by constructing a doomsday device. Originally, the game featured a single, colourful, Saturday-morning cartoon art style, with two planned expansions, Monsters and Mayhem and London Anarchy, each sporting its own unique aesthetic.
However, feedback from demonstrations revealed a strong preference among players for the visual themes of the expansions. According to the development team, potential players frequently expressed a desire to have the entire game, not just a supplement, rendered in the black-and-white Hammer Horror style of Monster Mayhem or the punky look of London Anarchy.
In response, the company has pivoted its strategy. When the game eventually launches on Kickstarter, it will be presented as three standalone core games. This will allow backers to choose their preferred theme from the outset, whether it’s the original cartoon villains, classic monsters, or steampunk anarchists.
This decision to listen and adapt to community feedback is a notable move. Equally significant is the publisher’s commitment to sourcing a local manufacturer within the UK. The complexities and costs of global shipping have been a major point of discussion among tabletop publishers this year, making a move to domestic production a globally-minded solution to a worldwide problem.
World Domination is a card game where players use minions to gather components for a superweapon, while simultaneously sabotaging the efforts of their rivals. The publisher, World Domination Limited, is based in Kingston-Upon-Hull. More information and a sign-up for updates are available on their official website.
