Grumpy Gorilla Publications has opened pre-orders for a significantly revised edition of their board game, Rosebyrne Manor, with an exclusive offer for attendees of this weekend’s Tabletop Scotland convention.

Gamers physically at the Edinburgh convention can secure a copy at the Grumpy Gorilla stand, one of the event’s premier sponsors. This early commitment will be rewarded with a £10 discount off the price before pre-orders are made available to the wider public online.
Rosebyrne Manor has cultivated a reputation as a sought-after cooperative adventure game, often selling out quickly due to the publisher’s focus on small print runs and a heavy presence on the UK convention circuit. This new version looks to build on the success of the first edition, which is now nearly sold out.

The revised edition is a substantial upgrade. It features a new bespoke printed game box, revised cards and rulebooks, and a poster map of the village of Rosebyrne and its surrounding areas. The world has been expanded with new locations to explore and new monsters to encounter. This single box is also comprehensive, containing all previously printed cards, including all eight characters and game upgrades, for a total of over 600 cards.
For new players, the publisher has included a new quick-start intro adventure to ease them into the rules. The game mechanics have also been tweaked, moving to a D6 dice system, which removes the need for any specialised dice.

In Rosebyrne Manor, one to four players take on the roles of iconic fantasy heroes like the Warrior, Cleric, Mage, and Ranger. They must work together to investigate the mysteries of the manor, delving into the dungeons below and undertaking quests. The game features dynamically generated maps, ensuring each visit is unique, and a campaign system that allows heroes to gain experience and level up between sessions.
In a move that reflects the current global market, Grumpy Gorilla has opted for a small, UK-based print run rather than a large crowdfunding campaign. The publisher noted concerns over foreign production and shipping as a key factor in this decision. With the majority of funding already in place, the pre-orders will help cover the final costs to begin printing, with an expected delivery date of November 2025.
The story of the game centres on the eponymous manor, which has lain abandoned for a century after its owner, Lord Kallidus, and his family mysteriously vanished. Now, adventurers are drawn to the town of Rosebyrne by tales of hidden wealth, but a creeping darkness and strange lights from the old house suggest a sinister plot is unfolding.
