PEG is back on Kickstarter, and this time it’s a two-for-one of Necessary Evil called Doom Guard. Necessary Evil is a PEG world of cosmic horror, and the two-for-one is that this crowdfunding campaign is for a Savage Worlds TTRPG and a new board game.
It took only 17 minutes for the campaign to fund, and it was asking for $8,888. You can see progress or join in from the pitch page.
Heroes and supervillains in Doom Guard have teamed up to fight a greater danger – the impending doom. It’s the latter which brings the mythos-esq nature of Necessary Evil to unholy life.
Characters are supers like the tech-based Warden, fate-twisting Hex, armoured suit of the Ogre and even a speedster. But they’re up against cultists and the legions of horrors that follow.
The Doom Guard board game is played campaign style through a series of linked campaigns.
The TTRPG, also set in Liberty City, utilises Savage Worlds rules and is a 96-page hardcover designed to bring that world to life.
The Doom Guard roleplaying game is part of the Necessary Evil universe, originally conceived by Clint Black in 2004. Pinnacle has released three editions and numerous expansions since then, all featuring the world’s last super-powered individuals—the VILLAINS (and a few remaining heroes) battling the alien v’sori and their treacherous plan to take over the world!

Backers at $20 can get the digital editions of Doom Guard setting and the core Savage Worlds Adventurer’s Edition, which you’ll need, and the Super Powers Companion, also necessary, plus the Necessary Evil: Invasion expansion. That’s a generous tier.
At $30, the hardcover of Doom Guard is added, and all the PDFs are still included.
The board game makes an appearance at the $60 tier, and the RPGs can be added as optional add-ons.
Alternatively, at $80, backers get the Doom Guard board game, the Doom Guard TTRPG in print and the set of digital editions.
There’s a $140 tier which has the Doom Guard board game and two expansions for it: Legions of Hell and Alien Invasion.
The top tier, which is very popular, has all the board games and all the TTRPGs with expansions.
PEG’s Kickstarter runs until August 23rd, and the expected delivery is in May 2026.
