Now that the launch of Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity is out the way, ArenaNet has just announced Guild Wars Reforged; a new package of the original game, with some updates and improvements.
Guild Wars Reforged will include the three original Guild Wars campaigns: Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. The game is set to launch on Steam and PC through the standalone client for $19.99 on 3rd December.
Something else you need to know, is that if you already play (or have played) Guild Wars, you’ll receive the new package as a free upgrade. Hurrah!
Similarly to Guild Wars 2, the Steam and standalone versions of Reforged will require you to have different accounts. Players using both platforms will be able to play with each other, but you won’t be able to use your standalone client credentials to play via Steam.
The Eye of the North expansion will also not be included in the 3rd December Guild Wars Reforged bundle – and will require a separate purchase (unless you already own it).
So, what can players expect from Guild Wars Reforged? Well, there will be audio and visual improvements to the game, but perhaps most excitingly, the game will be Steam Deck verified and will feature support for modern controllers with XInput! 10/10 for accessibility.
Interestingly, this might not be the last we see of updates to Guild Wars. ArenaNet has stated they aim to continue their collaboration with 2weeks “to make further improvements to the game in the future”.
