If you’re investigating a popular game on a OneBookShelf site like the Storyteller’s Vault, the DM’s Guild or DriveThruRPG then you’ll see they have a metal-themed badge.
Copper is the lowest and on DriveThruRPG 12,302 products have managed to achieve that level. In contrast, Adamantine is the highest, and on DTRPG only 61 products have done that well.
The OneBookShelf blog announced a change to the system.
Now, products must have been sold for at least US$0.20 before the sale counts against progress. In other words, if give a basic version of your game away for free in the run-up to your Kickstarter and then switch over, none of those free downloads counts towards your metal badge. Or, if a game is marked Pay What You Want, only sales in which the customer pays at least 20c matter.
More importantly, it doesn’t matter where in OnBookShelf’s collection of sites the sale came from; it still counts.
For example, the D&D Basic Set Rulebook (boxed edition) is available as a download from DriveThruRPG. It’s also available from the Dungeon Masters Guild. It’s now an Adamantine Best Seller and based on the position the download has on the charts, I would guess that sales at DTRPG have helped boost the book’s profile at the DM’s Guild.
