I remember hoping that Nintendo’s Wii U would have a controller that let you go mobile, play outside and join in epic games like Monster Hunter. I didn’t get my wish but that seems to be exactly what the nextgen console from Nintendo offers.
This first look at the Nintendo Switch (no Wii branding) shows people switching from console mode to mobile. Actually, they don’t so much switch as pick the console up from its dock and carry on as before – using its screen rather than the TV.
There’s also some game teaser footage and the next Zelda looks impressive.
The Wii U didn’t appeal to me once the dust had settled and the console was available. I find myself much more interested in the Nintendo Switch. This is a gaming console for people to who travel and that’s all of us.
Imagine games like Pokemon on the Switch. This could be Nintendo’s way to be the first hardware games maker to seriously get on the mobile market – with apologies to NGage who’ve certainly tried.
