Sunless Sea looks scary and very different

Failbetter Games has produced interactive books like Fallen London for the Storynexus platform. Their latest game is on Steam and GOG.

The video gives the impression of Call of Cthulhu meets boat simulation. There’s more to it than that. There’s some 200,000+ words in this game – it’s another take on modern storytelling. I’m tempted to check it out just for that.

The art is all handrawn and looks superb.

The game play in real-time, with combat against the likes of ships, Zee-beasts, spider-crewed dreadnoughts and even sentient icebergs. Your captain will die. The point is to create a legacy and build upgrades and pass resources on to the next generation of sailors.
