Smallville was the TV series prequel to Superman. Gotham is the TV series prequel to Batman. I think the similarities pretty much stop there.
This trailer for Gotham looks good. We follow a young Jim Gordon as a detective, watch him promise Bruce Wayne that he’ll catch the killer of his parents. There’s even a young Catwoman, The Riddler, Penguin and Poison Ivy.
