Games Workshop scores a critical hit as profits boom

It’s a tough economy out there. Just this morning this blogger read about another familiar high street name going into administration. Then it was time to find out about Games Workshop.

The company’s trading statement said;

“As a niche business, we, in general terms, neither benefit nor suffer from macroeconomic factors as our current results show,”

In other words; even if we’re all poor – gamers still need games.

As it happens Games Workshop have had a cracking half-year. It’s share price has not been this good since 2005 and the peak of Lord of the Rings.

First-half net income was up 43% from the previous year.

That’s some £6.9 million pounds. If you’re a Games Workshop shareholder then you can expect a dividend of 29p per share. Nice one. Drinks are on you.
